In order to strengthen the education of students' employment outlook, help students clarify their future development goals, and enhance their understanding of employment and related information about the Ph.D. qualifying exam, the College of Food Science and Engineering of Jilin University held an online employment experience sharing session through a Tencent conference on May 23. The 2019 graduate of our college, Zhang Xu (Ph.D. candidate at China Agricultural University) and the 2020 graduate, Liu Shuang (Changchun Food and Drug Inspection Center), respectively, shared their experience of entering a higher education and employment. The conference was host by the graduate of the college, Part-time counselor Yang Wanlu. Teacher Wang Jun, Teacher Wang Dan, graduate students and students who are interested in the sharing session listened to the sharing session.
First of all, Zhang Xu shared his experience on the subject of scientific research assistants in universities. She has entered the doctoral stage after one year of research assistant work after graduating from her master's degree. In the sharing session, Zhang Xu focused on the work content and harvest of the research assistant, and recommended several practical learning websites to the audience. Next, Liu Shuang shared her mindset and experience of finding a job. She made a comprehensive and serious summary from the three aspects: "selection of employment direction", "form of the civil service examination", and "the difference between enterprises and public institutions". There are many pertinent suggestions on the preparation content and time arrangement of the public examination.
In the questioning session, the participants communicated with the two seniors on the acquisition of civil service examination information and the recruitment of scientific research assistant and received detailed and patient answers.
Finally, teacher Wang Jun and Wang Dan made a brief summary of the content of this sharing session, expressed their gratitude to the two alumni for their selfless sharing of employment experience, and encouraged everyone to exchange and learn more, hoped that the students will find their goals in the future careers, and move forward smoothly.
Through this sharing session, students who are preparing for further studies and employment are very inspired. This activity promoted students' clear understanding and planning of their personal careers, and helped students to get rid of anxiety and better meet trials and challenges.
